These make greats collector's items, and I love every story. These first six are largely considered among the best works of a series that extends into over 200 books. Easy to read, and fast, these books will spark any young childs imagination.

Stewart for The Tower Treasure/The House on the Cliff/The Secret of the Old Mill/The Missing Chums/Hunting for Hidden Gold/The Shore Road Mystery (Hardy Boys 1-6) Rating: For a wonder, I never read a Hardy boys novel when I was growing up, probably because they weren't on the shelves at the librarywhere I got most of my books. Of course I saw the Disney versions and the tv series, but I never read one of the books until I was sixty one years old. Then while shopping online I found this boxed set and decided to buy it and read what the books were like.
The first thing I found was that these are not the original versions of the stories written in the late twenties and early thirties. The giveaway was when some of the villains stole a case of transister radios, which were not even invented til long after the forties. So this is the series rewritten in the sixties.
That said, the stories were ingenious and well written. Also, I liked the group of friends that were always ready to help the heroes with their adventures. Television lost out on a good thing when they did not mention these guys and girls on the shows.
After reading through the books, I passed them on to some of my friends, who are eagerly reading them, too.
These books are a good read and a fine memento of a time when it was considered possible for a pair of teenagers to take on a gang of criminals and not get killed out of hands.

They are filled with action packed adventures. They keep you flying through the pages to find the answers to the mysteries. They even keep you laughing at the Hardy Boy's friend Chet Morton and his jalopy. These are MUST read action packed novels.

In fact, I think the stories are even better written and more entertaining.The first in the series is Mystery of Shrieking Island. You will love them. I sure did.

Review by Carter's Mom for The Hardy Boys: The Perfect Crime [Game Download] Rating: This game is really quite terrible. It is a hidden object game with some puzzles thrown in. The dialogue has no bearing on the hidden object searches, the items and locations are repetitive, and it was clearly not produced by English speaking folks. Some of the items are mislabeled. For example, a "rugsack" turns out to be a backpack or rucksack. In other locations, you are asked to search for a "wristwatch" which turns out to be an alarm clock. The graphics are lousy and it is hard to make out all the objects in the first place. I found that each room had 10 hidden objects and two hints available -- which turned out to be a good thing. The puzzles were uninspired and not very challenging. If you like a simple hidden mystery game, I would recommend Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst. For a more interesting detective game, try Nancy Drew or Murder She Wrote. On the plus side, it is appropriate for families and kids.
